MaterialGuide PA12

PA12 is a high-performance filament with tough mechanical and chemical properties. This material shows a high impact, crack and scratch resistance. It is food / water contact acceptable with superior chemical & weathering resistance. In comparison to other polyamide filaments it has a very low water absorption and excellent dimensional stability. PA12 Nylon filament is hygroscopic, therefore it has to be stored in a dry container with a desiccant bag or has to be dried before usage for 2-3 hours at 110-130°C for 100g (without the spool as it will melt at much lower temperatures). Using a not dry filament bubbles will appear in the printed parts and layers will not stick together. In this case the printed parts get weak. The material is partially flexible at thin parts and tough at bigger parts.

PA12 can be printed with a nozzle temperature from 225-275°C and a heated printbed with 90-100°C. PrintaStick as adhesive agent is recommended because of the shrinkage.
